FOLKLORE
MUSEUM NEAPOLIS
One of
the richer folklore museums of Crete is
found in the Neapoli. Rich report of types
of household, social agricultural and
many other activities of passed seasons
of region Merampe'loy.
Hours of visit: the 09.00 - 13.00 and
18.00 - 21.00 summer months. The rest
of the year, the visit can be hold after
telephone agreement interested with the
chairman of Folklore company.

VIRGIN
MARY the VJGLJWTJSSA
Built
the in the 14th century in the means.

SAINT
GEWRGJOS the VRAHASWTIS
Double
temple (Ag. Gewrgjos and Ag. Dimitrios).
B Byzantine period (961 - 1204). It used
to be revolutionary centre of Eastern
Crete. There are saved plenty of documents
in the monastery on the "Enetika"
files, as well as ruins of ancient buildings
in the barton of the monastery. It is
under the protection of 14th Inland Revenue
of Antiquities of Ministry of Culture.

CAVERN
MJLATOY
Historical cavern
of region, where resorted 3.500 Christians
in order to avoid the 16.000 turkish-egyptian
soldiers of Hasan pasha that made expedition
in order to stamp out the revolution
in Eastern Crete. After betrayal, 10.000
soldiers encircled the cavern and put
fire in his four orifices. In this holy
space exists small church and charnel
house from the holocaust of the Christians.
All Christians they were captured (23-2-1823)
were sold in slave markets in the East.
